Spirals Our For Summer

How does it feel like The Scribbler was both just yesterday and months ago? Either way, it was one heckuva show. We promised it would be our biggest show yet and with the new flashback scenes, fight choreography, and 8-foot puppet, I’m gonna go ahead and say we delivered. It was really fun/ny to have returning audience members hootin’ and hollerin’ (which Life in Revue talks about in his review of the show), alongside new-to-us audiences taking it all in, alongside new-to-theater audiences enjoying an hour of jokes and wholesome humor.

“Love the vibes, from the sealed program packet to the set to the historical satire... I laughed the entire time. This is my first time seeing Spiral. Play on!”

Back in April, we went to see the incredibly talented Anjeline Mae Ramirez in Expression Theater’s production of Lend Me A Tenor at the Lakeville Area Arts Center. It was one of the best nights of theater we’ve had in a long time: the seriously silly antics happening on stage, the mix of all experiences in the cast, the low-stakes-high-reward entertainment audiences were experiencing. It truly reinvigorated our love for community theater, and we’re taking that appreciation with us as we begin a facilitated strategic planning process.

“Phenomenal! Community theater is so fun to support. You guys are awesome!”

This planning process is something groups our size and age aren’t engaging in, but we’re learning that Spiral is growing faster than we could’ve anticipated with each show. This planning will set us up for success, especially as we continue to receive significant funding like our $25,000 MRAC grant, expand our circle of decision-makers, and explore the infinite possibilities of what to present on stage. We hope to have a new mission statement and a guiding plan for the future by the end of the year. And you, through this newsletter, will be the first to know about it.

For now, we’re taking a sort-of-summer-break. So ta-ta for now!
